Cotswold Bricks
The Cotswold Bricks are one of 23 bricks in the London Brick Company range. The Cotswold brick is a pressed bricks that is grey in colour and has a light texture, it is manufactured by Hanson. It is said that the original London brick goes back over one hundred and thirty years and has been used in the construction of well over five million homes throughout the United Kingdom.
Some people chose Cotswold bricks if they are renovating a home or building already built from these bricks, whereas other people choose to use the Cotswold brick for a completely different exterior look. Cotswold bricks work really well for a garage or outhouse that is built away from the main building.
When laying bricks it’s a really good idea to mark out the area you will be laying bricks in, this way you won’t go out too far or end up with wonky walls for your building.
It’s also really important to clean off any mortar mix from your skin if you come into contact with it. Mortar mix contains lime which is a caustic chemical and can cause burns if left on skin for a prolonged amount of time. You may choose to wear safety goggles and other protective clothing to stay protected when laying bricks. Some people choose to wear a breathing mask so they can ensure they do not breathe dust into their airways when they are handling or mixing dry ingredients.
If you are looking to extend your building and you think it has been built with Cotswold bricks then take a photo of the building and bricks then send it to the team at Brick Hunter, they will then advise you on the brick that has been used in your building and supply you with the bricks you need to match them.
