Bricks For A Garage
Garages are an excellent addition to any home; not only is your motor insurance lowered if your car is kept in a garage but you will also find that your home is more attractive if you were to sell it as you have off-road parking. On top of that storing your car in a garage also means less ice scraping during the winter months. However some people have a garage for their cars and they decide they would like an extra garage for storage, when building a garage for your home or business you need to think about how you want it to look.
If the garage is being attached to an existing building you may chose to match the bricks so the garage and existing building look they are meant to be together.
Some people chose to use cinder block for their garage walls, this can be a cheaper option but not as reliable. Research shows that more burglars enter a garage of cinder block than garages with brick walls, so the safer option is to spend a little more for bricks.
If you are choosing to have a detached garage then you may still decide that the bricks for a garage should match the rest of the building but it’s also really important that the width of the garage wall is at least one brick wide. When it comes to the height of your garage aim for about 3-4 metres, the cost of building the garage will not rise dramatically but the price in the event of selling the home will increase quite dramatically.
Have a look at your neighbours garages and see what they have decided to do, many people want the same bricks so the building and garage like they are ‘one’. If you are keen to do the same then have a look at the images of bricks we have on the website or send us an email with pictures of your bricks and we will find the matching bricks for you.
Don’t forget to account for the gap at the front of the garage when ordering your bricks as there will be minimal bricks at this end to allow for the doors. Also consider what sort of doors your garage will have and how much space needs to be left for the garage door(s).
